7 Foods You Should Never Maintain in the Freezer

Foods not to freeze – Your freezer is a superb tool for planning ahead and preparing meals for busier days. Nonetheless, it is not ideal for many foods–and keeping the wrong food in the freezer may lead to gross meals or perhaps health dangers.

Milk

Unfortunately, milk stored in the freezer may split into balls and watery parts when thawed. It will be safe to consume, but it’s not precisely the best consistency for adding into your morning cereal or java.

Potatoes

Potatoes have a high water content, so after being saved in the freezer, you could be left with a mushy, soft potato. If you are cooking a meal with potatoes and you’re expecting to freeze the leftovers go to it. Cooked potatoes will not be as mushy as though you froze them uncooked. The feel change will not matter too much in cooked casseroles or stews.

Fried foods

Sorry, leftover mozzarella sticks! Foods that were fried will shed all their crunch should you place the leftovers to the freeze–and no one needs soft, mushy fried foods. If you are likely to make a batch of fermented poultry nuggets to keep in the freezer, you are better off skipping the fryer and then choose to bake the meal in the oven first.

Eggs still in their shell

Putting eggs which are still from the shell to the freezer is a big no-no. The water content inside the egg expands when frozen, which may result in the outer shell to crack and be vulnerable to germs. If you want to suspend your eggs, always take them out of the shell, beat until they’re well mixed and store in an airtight container with a tag. Take a look at these other simple storage tricks to keep frozen foods fresh.

Soft cheeses

Storing soft cheeses from the freezer will yield a similar effect to storing milk. If it comes time to eat them, you’ll be left with watery lumps, which often ruins the texture of foods like cream cheese, sour cream, and ricotta.

Raw veggies and fruits

Any fruit or vegetable that has a high water resistant, like sausage, cucumber, salad greens, and watermelon will not survive the freezer because the water indoors quickly produces ice crystals. What this means when it is time to thaw them you’ll be left with a mushy, inedible mess. If you are at the supermarket, however, these are 11 fruits and vegetables that are better to purchase frozen than fresh.

Crumb-topped meals or desserts

When you have an amazing baked macaroni and cheese meal that is topped with the great crispy crumble, you don’t wish to put it in the freezer. Much like the fate of these fried foods, when crumb-topped meals and deserts match the cold temperatures of the freezer, you’re going to be left with soggy, soft palate.
